Nurse Experience in Making Inter-Island Referrals for Emergency Patients: A Phenomenological Study

Making referrals for emergency patients is an activity that a nurse must do in remote areas. Referrals with trips pass by land and sea take long time will definitely encounter many obstacles hindrances. Unpredictable experienced making include accidents, port closures, tidal waves. This study aimed to explore the experiences of nurses inter-island referrals. interpretive qualitative research phenomenology. The sampling technique used purposive criteria who had made participants were 25 nurses, saturated data on 14th participant. process collecting was in-depth interviews until no new or answers found. From results study, there 3 themes, namely nurses' feelings (sad, happy, dejected, anxious, irritated, angry), (preparation, process, handover), expectations (means, honorarium, energy, ease transfer). Therefore, referral competent adequate facilities infrastructure during trips, ability communicate various parties ensure smooth be prepared.
